Wolves right-back Nelson Semedo could potentially seal a move to Chelsea as competition for Reece James, according to journalist Simon Phillips.
The Lowdown: Semedo a good signing for Wolves
The 28-year-old has been a good servant for Wanderers since arriving from Barcelona in 2020, making 75 appearances and being described as ‘unbelievable’ by reliable journalist Tim Spiers.
Semedo has continued to be a key performer for Wolves this season, playing 11 times in the Premier League, and the hope is that he stays put for the foreseeable future.
A new update suggests that that may not be the case, though.
The Latest: Chelsea eyeing up move
Speaking to Give Me Sport, Phillips claimed that the Blues see Semedo as someone who could provide stiff competition for James, who has struggled with injuries in 2022:
“Chelsea also like Nelson Semedo from Wolves and are considering him as an option to come in to give competition for Reece James.”

The Verdict: Head could be turned
This is a worrying update from a Wolves perspective, considering what a largely reliable player Semedo has been for them over the past two-and-a-bit years.

The lure of joining a Champions League-playing club in Chelsea could be hard to say no to, and the Portuguese may feel a fresh challenge is needed.
Hopefully, that doesn’t prove to be the case, but if it is, Wolves may have to consider selling him in January, considering his current deal expires next summer, albeit with a club option for an extension.
